Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know Newsby SA Editor Rachael Granby- Bank trio becomes duo. Wells Fargo (WFC) will become the largest U.S. bank by branches with its bid for Wachovia (WB), after Citigroup (C) withdrew from compromise negotiations late yesterday on concerns about the quality of some of Wachovia's assets. Wells Fargo, with a bid valued at $11.4B, expects the purchase to be completed by the end of the year, and denies it will have to absorb assets shakier than originally thought.
- Government considers next steps. As the financial crisis continues to worsen, the U.S. government is considering two dramatic steps to turn around, or at least slow, the damage: guaranteeing billions of dollars in bank debt and temporarily insuring all U.S. bank deposits. The moves, which would mark the government's most extensive intervention to date, are in discussion stages only.
- Credit stays frozen. As frozen credit markets refuse to thaw, the cost of default protection on corporate bonds reaches new global records amid investor concerns the credit crisis will trigger corporate failures as companies struggle to finance their businesses. Interbank lending remains limited, and borrowing from the Fed's expanded discount window continued its trend of setting new highs every week, as the total daily average rose to $420.2B vs. $367.8B last week.

Investing in Autism Treatment
Investing in Autism Treatment
After several inquires written to seekingalpha re:that the last piece of news posted on 'Nstk' was on April 6, 2007, seekingalpha removed the dates on the site. "BRILLIANT"
Instead of updating the site someone decided just to remove the dates. That doesn't fix the problem. If this is a communication site for investors then there is an injustice being served!
EVEN JIM CRAMER HAS TOUTED THIS STOCK A TOTAL OF 30 TIMES SINCE MARCH 16TH UP UNTIL LAST FRIDAY, SEPT.7TH, SO ISN'T THAT NEWSWORTHY?
THIS MUST BE THE BEST STOCK TO INVEST IN FOR THE NEXT DECADE ACCORDING TO HIM.
Why don't one of your biotech editors research this information and report on it. All is fair isn't it?
The new site looks great but the interior needs
updating too.
JIMMY T.
Investing in Autism Treatment
In today's fast world of communications it seems
as if 'SEEKINGALPHA' has either disregarded my post on Sept.2nd, or misplaced it. I find it hard to believe that the last article posted regarding 'nstk' was last April 2007?
This is a stock Touted by Jim Cramer a total of 30 Times to date since March 2007.
You mean to tell me that no news regarding Autism, Obesity, Diabetes, Osteoporosis, and RNAI, the areas that is the leading forefront of NSTK has made any news at all for the company.
Electronic communication should be faster than a carrier pigeon, right MICK?
Genzyme's Controversial Buyback was Predictable
Since you did your homework on this article and investigated
so well on it, I was wondering if an author of your stature would undertake what I feel is mere over-hype on a specific biotech company.the company is NASTECH PHARMACEUTICAL (NSTK).
It has been stated repeatedly that in the areas of Autism, Osteoporosis, Diabetes, Obesity and RNAI that nstk will be successful. I believe that this is so far from the truth and probability, that it warrants your expert opinion on the subject.
Please when you can, it would be gratefully appreciated!
JIMMY T.
Is Biotech on the Verge of a Breakout?
Brett scott you maybe on the money with this report.
If you select companies that have good revenue, sales growing quarterly, little or no debt, a return to equity increasing yearly,
potential new products not in the very early stages, and a management team that is effective, then investors can pick and choose the ripe fruits off the tree with careful due diligence.
Otherwise investors could be walking through a large parcel of Land Mines. Some tree's are rotten, some are dwarfs and some need another decade to grow. Potential is one thing but Time, Money, and approvals are large hurdles for some companies to
jump over, and these are the ones that should be left behind!
One level of measure is where has the stock price gone from 5 years ago until now! Has researchers over targeted the company's
stock price year after year and missed their goal?
It may be time but caution should be considered when selecting Biotech's.

The Feuerstein's mailbag article should extinguish the level of flames of hope in RNAI for NSTK and the other three areas touted by Mr.Cramer

Authentidate Holding: Coghill Capital Discloses 9.9% Stake, Pursues Changes
Good article Mr. Juricic. From my 29 years of experience as an investor, I believe stronly that ADAT will become the Fairy Tale Story to come real soon. At current momentum, new contracts,
little bleeps every 10-15 days of uptick volume is signaling future high volume days coming. Once
the volume starts above 200,000 consistantly and trending higher that is the exact moment to jump aboard. In my opinion, this can be a $8 dollar stock by spring 2008!

Expecting a Strong Move in Arena Pharma
Good article, thank you.
Maybe in the near future you may want to consider giving your prospective on 'NSTK'. I find and feel this is a story in a half.
It has all the ingredients of something to really write about.
Tremendous Hype, Chronic insider selling, Poor Sales, 10 year minus return on equity, Over played opportunities in the areas of Autism, Obesity, Diabetes, and RNAI. Lastly and truly, years away from potential FDA approvals with all their testing phases and hurdles they must jump perfectly to win approvals. One of the most overpriced Biotech's stocks in the market today in my opinion. Please consider Nstk as a future story of your personal perspective.
Thank you,
jt7423

Profiting from the Cyclical Nature of Biotech Stocks
potential recession, and so forth you assessment happens to be accurate. Having said that, in following biotech stocks, one in particular does tend to rise during sept.,oct.,and november, that's nastech pharmaceutical.
However, just as it always seems to go up during this time frame, it always seems to go down systematically
in December, january, and february like clock work! Of course the smart ones know to get out before the year end
earnings report surfaces! Thank you Dan for an informative report, keep up the good work!

Happy To Have Sold 'Value Trap' Amgen
besides. As you said it was a value trap and just looking at that 5 year chart I can fully understand.
Which brings me to 'nstk' with a similar chart for 5 years(about the same value consistently), except this is not a stock of the same level. But when recent statements that nastech has potential in three areas being, Autism, Obesity, and Rnai, it raised a red flag to me. I found other companies way ahead of 'nstk' in all three areas, so
maybe it's more Hype than reality. There ahead by years and later phases too. nstk is in the early stages so they are probably 5-15 years away, which makes me wonder as a shareholder that maybe this is a 'Value Trap' too.
What's your perspective Mike,
Jimmy T
Jim Cramer's Mad Money Lightning Round Picks, 8/16/07
I disagree with jim Cramer that 'nstk' is a stock to be in, especially in 2007. In looking at the three areas mentioned by Mr.cramer, obesity, autism, and Rnai I believe nstk is far behind in those areas and believe they will have great difficulties advancing in those areas too.*****In the Pipeline: Diabetes and Obesity Archives

‘I think within ten years we'll have found the genes of major affect and most of the genes of minor affect. That will then lead to reasonable targets for drug interventions.’
— DR. JOSEPH BUXBAUM
Mount Sinai School of Medicine
Once genes are identified, there will be targets for drug intervention.
Jansen Pharmaceutica recently applied to the Food and Drug Administration for approval of its antipsychotic drug Risperdal for patients with autism. It's the first time in history a pharmaceutical company has targeted autism as a disease.
“There are over a million and a half people with autism,” said Shestack. “And they have it from age 2 to age 70. And there is a tremendous opportunity for a company that wants to do well by doing good.”

*LOOK AT THE COMPETITORS AND NOTICE ‘NSTK’ DIDN’T MAKE THE LIST**
POINT**I DO NOT MIND GETTING INFO THAT A STOCK MAYBE DEEMED NECESSARY TO INVEST IN.
IF THE INFORMATION THAT IS PROVIDED TO SHAREHOLDERS WEIGH IN THEIR FAVOR, THEN
FURTHER DD HOMEWORK IS WARRANTED FOR INVESTMENT CONSIDERATIONS.
HOWEVER, WHEN INFORMATION REGARDING A SPECIFIC COMPANY SEEMS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, AND RESEARCH PROVES JUST THAT, THEN USING ONES AUTHORITY,CREDITABILTY...
TO PUT FORTH SUCH INACCURRACIES WHETHER BY MISTAKE OR FOR OTHER REASONS OF WHICH ARE INEXPLAINABLE, THEN ONE HAS TO WONDER WHY THIS WAS DONE IN SUCH A MATTER OF PURE HYPE! THERE LIES THE PROBLEM TO ALL SHAREHOLDERS!
IN CONCLUSION, IF THE THREE AREAS OF OBESITY, AUTISM, AND RNAI WAS PLAYED UP IN AN
EXAGERATING MANNER, THEN WHO BENEFITED THE MOST FOR THE RECOMMENDATION OF INVESTING ‘NOW’ IN 2007, IN NASTECH PHARMACEUTICAL?

Fishy Executive Compensation at Northfield Labs
Which leads me to Nastech Pharmaceutical, the injustice has been smeared all over the press and t.v. shows about how in the areas of autism, obesity, and rnai that this company has unlimited chances of success. This company
has been over Hyped to lead the little guy thinking that this company is the next eli lilly! Their chances in these areas are extremely remote for absolute success and I do not understand where certain individuals are going with this. What is the real motive? Please Mr.Detective, if anyone can get to the bottom of this it's you. It would be appreciated. This would be the story of the decade when you really find out and Nastech is not what it's portrayed to be!
